Bill Marshall
William Marshall has been an educator for the past seventeen years.
He is the Assistant Professor in Scenic Design at the University of
Arkansas, Little Rock, and has served on the faculties of Swarthmore
College and Kenyon College. During his thirteen years on the faculty
of Swarthmore College, he devoted a large portion of his scholarship
to developing curricular- based production models that are still in
use today. His Philadelphia theatre credits include People’s Light
and Theatre Company, A Village Fable, Sacco and Vansetti, Valley
Song, Arabian Nights, My Mother Said I Never Should, Distant Fires,
and Faith Healer. As assistant designer to Paul Owen at Actors
Theatre of Louisville, Mr. Marshall contributed to the creation of
Metaphor, Whereabouts Unknown, Queen of the Leaky Roof Circuit, and
Alone at the Beach during the Humana Festival of New American Plays.
Mr. Marshall served as the Resident Scenic Designer & Technical
Director for two seasons at Wayside Theatre which included The Good
Doctor, Desire Under the Elms, Les Liasons Dangereuses, I’m Not
Rappaport, and Irma Vep. Mr. Marshall has designed for regional,
educational and European theatres. His New York theatre credits
include Dark Sun at The Metropolitan Playhouse of New York and
Candida at the Pulse Ensemble Theatre. He holds a BFA from the
University of Florida in design and technology and an MFA in
scenography for his graduate studies from Virginia Tech.
