Travis McHale

Travis McHaleTravis McHale is a New York City based designer for the stage. New York projects: Scenic and lighting design: World premiere of “Makeout Session” and “Glass Jaw” at Barrow Group Theatre and Ground Up Production’s hit revival of “Burn This.” Lighting Designer: Ground Up Production’s “Proof, “ “Lobby Hero” and “Hot Damn, Holiday!” at Manhattan Theatre Source, Barrow Group Theatre’s NYC premiere of “A Steady Rain”, and “All That Glitters is Sold” and “The Pluck Project ’05,” contemporary dances at Lincoln Center Institute. Regional lighting design: Weston Playhouse Theatre Company, “I Am My Own Wife,” directed by Hal Brooks, and the musicals “A Year With Frog and Toad,” “john and jen” and Tomie dePaola’s Strega Nona. “ Green Room Theatre, “Pump Boys and Dinettes.” He spent a year as Resident Lighting Designer for Ballet Spartanburg (SC). Travis has also served as the Associate Lighting Designer and Lighting Director for “Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka,” first national tour from the Kennedy Center, and Lighting Supervisor for Weston Playhouse’ regional tours of “Metamorphoses” and “Cyrano.” Originally from Los Angeles, Travis has designed there for Actors Repertory Theatre, The Cultural Affairs Department of L.A., The Warner Grand Theatre and San Pedro City Ballet. He serves on the board of directors of New York’s Ground Up Productions, as the director of design. Upcoming work: Goodspeed Musicals, and the world premiere of the musical, “The people vs. Mona” at Abingdon Theatre in NYC. Education: North Carolina School of the Arts.
